Ok - so what's your absolute favorite role that NW has done so far? And why?

Favourites, because you can't really pick just one can you?? #1 Lorelei in 'The Big Town All Stars'. Funny, intelligent, fantastic cast and there's singing! And the rest in no particular order: Suzy Travis - Chalk. I ♥ Chalk. So there Steven Moffat! Ruth - Spooks S2-5. [Am not a fan of S8] The fifth episode of any given season is always a classic one for Ruth Susan Taylor - Touching Evil. They should have made more episodes in this series. I guess with Robson having played a similar role in WitB it would be difficult to bring it back again. Shame.

I agree Flip too many to choose from so my list (in no order) and why: Paula from Mrs. Klein, I really liked how NW was able to show a lot of emotion through facial expressions. Not only that but trying to figure out where her place was between the two women and for sure at the very end. Her performance was strong. Joanna Taylor from Torn, the last half her performance made me cry because it was just so believeable and yet strong. Ruth Evershed of course hands down. I think s4 was a strong one for character development. I really liked s8 ep. 1 and 8 with her. Ep. 1 of s8 "Here is your BAFTA for Spooks" Oh, wait I already handed it to her Susan Taylor from Touching Evil, I agree Flip it should have been a bit longer of a series. I liked seeing more of a bad@ss side. Helen Meredith from People Like Us just made me laugh with her comedic timing. Four Weddings and a Funeral now that singing was just priceless and have been told if I get married it will be played at my wedding Harriet Ambrose from The Last Train, too many little moments that I liked. I would love to see NW in a very strong drama with an excellent script. I think after seeing her in Mrs. Klein she is due for something of that nature that puts her in the lead role for once. She can do it and when she does it will just blow everyone away!!!

Theatre-wise, I'd have to go with 'Cloud Nine'. Genius. This was also one of the few times that I remember seeing a play more than once and noticing the changes made from previews. I saw the first preview where they still had the 'Cloud Nine' song in, when I went again a few weeks later that had been cut and a few other things staged differently. Although I can see why the cut the song if I'm honest Am still gutted that I had a ticket for 'Edmond' and then was poorly so didn't get to see it. It took me another 4 years before I was able to see NW on stage, and 5 before I got to see Sir Ken! *nods in agreement* Episode 1 was Ruth's best episode this series [haven't yet seen Episode 8] The Dalziel and Pascoe episode 'A sweeter lazarus' is another favourite of mine. And NW gets to hug the lovely Richard Coyle in that episode...am not at all jealous...oh no.... ETA: *looks at posts* Would it be easier to say there was a role we didn't like?

Yes, that would have been a better title! There are so many great roles she's been in. Sadly, I've never had the chance to see any of NW's theater work - hopefully I will some day! My absolute favorite role for her has to be Ruth! I just adore the character and what NW brings to her. It was one of those roles that in the hands of a less talented actress would have fallen to the wayside, but NW breaths life into her. Of course - it's closely followed by Susan Taylor of Touching Evil - both of you are right - it should have been a longer series. There was a great deal of potential there. Is it just me or does NW have great chemistry with all of the leading men? I haven't heard Big Town All Stars - but seeings how it made your favorite list, Flip - I shall add it to my "to find soon" list and listen to it.

Until last night, I would have immediately said Ruth. Having listened to The Big Town All Stars, I absolutely love her as Lorelei. Ruth pips her to my top spot, but it's rather close

Ruth is my all time fav. Althought I have to agree Lorelei is a close second. I haven't seen all of her work yet so I'll have to catch up some how. Who knows when that will be. But I live in hope.

I think Ruth is my favourite NW character as well, but she's done so many great things. Lorelei in 'The Big Town All Stars' is a close second really, I just can't stop listening to those episodes!

Suzy Travis will hold a special place for me as, well, she's a fellow teacher... Ruth is #1. Still have to listen to BTAS... :S Torn made me cry more than anything ever. I cried the entire way through the 2nd and 3rd episodes and it took me ages to summon the courage to watch the 3rd one after the effect the 2nd had on me... I guess I'm just a sensitive soul >P Theatre? Cloud Nine's double role. Excitable boy. Can't beat that.

I totally agree about Torn, Grazza. I watched ep 1 and 2 and absolutely bawled my eyes out. So I actually had to think for a while whether to watch the 3rd ep immediately or leave it for later.
