This morning about what the Daily Mail said: RT @pprtvteam To clarify for Spooks fans, series 9 will be back later this year. No one can get rid of the mighty Harry Pearce that easily!
Last night as a few of us tweeted him about it: Again for those asking tonight, I have been told there will be a new series of Spooks but, obviously, who knows after that?

www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/feb/15/stephen-garrett-kudosA Lot of thoughts right now on this article. I am still trying to understand the ways of how the BBC operates along with the independent production companies. I'll keep my thoughts on this low as I'm still learning. In terms of piracy there are logical solutions to this. Now it is a matter of if the those that are in charge see the benefits to all of the possible solutions. For one thing it would be nice if they would get over the international license fee so other countries. I know that here in the states only s1-5 have been shown on various PBS stations. Though PBS is only funded by viewers. A&E and BBCA claim to have shown s1-4 I never saw it. Now my question is why doesn't BBC try to make sure that Spooks is being shown with all series? If they need to make money it makes sense to me? Now everything does come back to money with this. Where to start so that the money does pour into to Kudos for the budget. Hmmm..... So many questions yet there are logical solutions to this.

I asked Ian if he might be interviewing NW. He replied back saying he will try to do so.
Cross your fingers and toes if you must for that interview to happen!

This is not found on Ian's blog but I did ask him as to why the cast list is out already. A million thanks to Ian for his response:
"I wouldn't worry too much about the timing of last week's production release. With filming having started some time ago, I thought it was slightly late! What was different, of course, was the teasing content - what it didn't say appeared to be almost as important as what it did!
Kudos / BBC are obviously taking a fresh approach after the problems of last year, with the constant threat that every series of Spooks could be the last unless it keeps re-inventing itself and justifying its place in the schedule."
Many thanks again Ian for helping me to understand.

What it didn't say? Such as...? Perhaps only mentioning the newcomers and not who returns? Is he trying to imply that Ros could still return? And needing to reinvent Spooks every year to justify themselves and stave off threats of cancellation? Yikes!, sounds like producing TV is a pressure cooker world. Given their ratings (and quality) Spooks needs no justification. Plus so many alternative new programs fall far short of Spooks. I suppose Spooks is an expensive program to produce.

OK I tweeted to Ian yesterday before the Big Game England vs. USA World Cup match about interviewing Spooks cast for s9. He told me that he is waiting closer to transmission so he can talk to them more about the series. Just be patient I know I am while we wait for those interviews. ;D
