This video is brilliant. It really captures everything from the episode so well. I actually watched this before I saw the episode so I knew that Nicola was going to be epic before I witnessed properly how utterly amazing she is in it. There are so many powerful scenes in this episode and she is the star of all of them. I also felt uncomfortable and uneasy watching certain bits but that is just testament to how well acted it all is. It all felt very real. The scene where she finds out about her husband sends shivers down my spine. It is so raw and revealing and true. I have no idea how Nicola (or any actor) can reach that emotional place inside them to deliver such scenes. How they are able to let it all go. Amazing.

I think it was Luther that made me a proper Nicola fan to the point of extreme love. I can honestly say I have never seen a performance like it... not ever. It was honest and compelling and realistic and shocking and distrubing and perfect and scarring all at once. There were times were I almost had to stop watching because Nicola's performance was so realistic and convincing that I felt sick.

Thanks for the like of the vid!
One of my co-workers who I started her to watch Spooks told her to watch this show. She couldn't believe Nicola's performance we must have talked about for a good 20min the next day. This is hands down one of my favorite performances thus far from Nicola. Very raw and very emotional showing range of emotions (anger, fear, disgust.....) all at times with many of these within a matter of 60 sec. One thing I challenge everyone to do is watch her scenes again with no sound and see if you still see those emotions. Let me know what you see I'm curious if you think it changes or strengthens the performance.

I follow a lot of writers on lj (trying to make it as one myself) and I remember one of them once mentioned that if you turned the sound off with tv programs you could tell an actor was just responding to manufactured cues and this was why it wasn't useful to model novel characters off actors performances in terms of aiming for realism. I tried this with Nicola in Spooks. The author was so totally wrong. I was still convinced by Nicola's performance - not contrived at all To be sure I tested with Martha and Dr Who. Still didn't make a difference. My conclusion was the author needed to watch herself some BBC.
