Episode 5 info is up on the BBC site as always Spoilers. www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/2010/wk42/mon.shtml#mon_spooksThis ep reminds me a bit of 2.6 I just hope they don't have the CIA involved. Technically MI5 should not be allowed to go anywhere near the president. They can assist Secret Service but that's about it. Sorry this is what happens when you know the workings of the services and know someone that used to be in it.

OK Thoughts on this ep First I'm really glad they didn't have the CIA involved with the president's movements as that is Secret Service so well done on that this time around. The Secret Service wouldn't need to know who was involved with the possible threat just that they were informed in other words no paperwork on their end. So that bit was more accurate. Plot wasn't as messy so that was helpful yet some parts didn't make sense to me. Why did the guy just leave Beth tied up? Then Beth has to pull a MacGyver move to get out. I'm looking into the sniper rifle the guy used. It can be done but with no wind and any other elements. I think the guy might have been too high up and so with his aim it would have been a 1 and a million shot to make. I'm really liking the interaction between Harry and Mr. Home Secretary there seems to be something different about them that wasn't before with the last HS. Harry is hardly in this ep you'd almost think he went off radar at some point only to show up again. Ruth and Tariq holding down the Grid this week. Ruth does a fantastic job with the journalist but then again it's Ruth so I wouldn't have expected anything less. Ruth yet still in the same outfit did she go home between last ep and this or did she just keep the same shirt at work and change back into it? Ruth still fantastic as always!! Lucas can we really have just put this whole thing into one ep really??!! Why does all the eps keep ending with Lucas? I completely forgot about his story arch and was enjoying the fact that it wasn't in the ep until the end. Harry and Ruth progression well now not even worth talking about that was BIG NO for the week. *crossing fingers for next week but won't hold my breath with the little teaser we saw for ep 6 trailer* Another agent who is good/bad? OK we've done that before. My question is if he wanted to stop what was going on why have Lucas chase him down and then try to strangle Lucas? Then again you wouldn't have a chase scene nor a twist either in the story. Dimitri we know he knows how to deal with bombs. More of him in this ep so that was good to see. Over all not a bad ep either. Still better then s8 Need to watch the ep again see what else I pick up on.

This week's ep was worth it if only for the ep6 teaser at the end. I was seriously disappointed by the lack of Harry/Ruth-ness this week, but next week will hopefully make up for that. All in all a pretty good episode, but last week's was better. And I'm totally not digging the whole Lucas plot.

The Lucas plot is making me batty as well - the weird thing is - it would be far more interesting without the love interest (Maya) and it could (well at this point) be done without her.
I find it strange that Kudos seems to invest so much time with Lucas' love interests and yet let Harry and Ruth by the wayside. Especially because there is so much interest there and so much material to work with . . . tisk.

Ruth is very much in charge in this ep, and I wonder if she is preparing to be section chief. Granted she still has to learn to make the tough choices but she has been helping Harry to do that this series. Yet bring balance to it. Lucas doesn't seem like section chief material to me and they way Ruth has really been in command of the Grid this series so far.... To me this is a possibility.
Inker I'm not seeing too much in body language in ep 6 trailer where "Ruth explains that the Grid has been compromised". She is standing just a fraction in front of Harry. My question and ( context is fully needed ) why is Ruth doing the explaining and not Harry? Context is everything and 2 sec is not enough to guess.

posted on pff too, so no bother to re-read. Re: the trailer (sorry it comes first as I need to vent about it. I of course am hopeful that it doesn't have to do with passing information. I'm not holding my breath. On the other hand though why would Ruth bring up such a touchy, uncomfortable subject just to pass him something that could easily be done in a file folder or with a knowing look I have something for you. ? I think it would be very out of character for Ruth to be this tactless and hurtful towards Harry. Unfortunately with the writers I can see it happening. And if that is the case poor poor NW and PF! *shakes head* They have to just grin and bare it. And they are splendid at it. Also assuming they are in the conference room and everyone has just left and she knows that they are bugged why would she want to let the hackers know their personal business, making them vulnerable as a couple? *GRRRR. I enjoyed this episode despite the lack of Harry. I was on the edge of my seat waiting with baited breath, interrupted literally at least 25x. It took me 2 and a half hours to get through this one. There were about 10 minutes left and my husband came up from the basement. I reluctantly pressed pause AGAIN and turned in my chair to face him. He looked at me as if something was wrong. I guess I had a weird smiling look of fright on my face cause he asked me if I was okay. I just mentioned Spooks and he rolled his eyes and went upstairs. ;D But the twists and turns were great. I really enjoyed all the action and the politics. I liked the use of all the characters. Though some could have been used more. I thought it was a good ensemble episode. Though not my favorite. Loved Ruth commanding the Grid. She is AWESOME! And didn't like it when Lucas yelled at Tariq. Loved the only interaction between H/R, Skip to the last page Ruth (along those lines). The HS and Harry bits are always great to watch. I'm always interested how the HS will respond to the next catastrophe and what words will be spat at Harry. Just a brilliant dynamic duo. I was expecting the Lucas/ Maya/ Michael twist from spoilers. So no shock there. But I'm interested to see how it plays out. Oh, and the last thing I really liked is the convo between Levi and Harry about time and forgiveness. Great double meaning there. That's about all I can think about this ep without driving myself nuts over it.

As a whole, series 9 is just fantastic so far. It definitely exceeded my expectations after series 8, which I enjoyed, but wasn't as good. I don't understand either why they're so going on about Lucas and his love interest either. It's a bit Adam series 6, only with the difference that Adam wasn't a traitor. Ruth really is queen of the Grid this series though. I'm glad they're finally putting Nicola's return to good use, because she was criminally underused in series 8.
