So my thoughts will be a bit all over the place and mainly focused on the H/R aspect of things.
Alas, it is what it is.
And please forgive any mis-quotes. I've only seen it once...so far
So opening scene~ At the tribunal, when Harry looked back at Ruth was he shocked to see her there? He looked shocked to me. They were on their 3rd day of proceedings. Was this the first time she showed? Or is that the reaction he always gives when he sees her unexpectedly. Not wanting others to see his love for her, especially when he's declaring that he doesn't in front of people that could ruin his career. Had he told her of Albany and it's worthlessness? I think so, just from Ruth's calm and collected manner when it was stated. Also something has definitely shifted in their relationship. They are more at ease with each other than ever before. Still, I like to think, positively in love. I can imagine (as I have written fics in my head about it
) the time when he told her about Albany. As I'm sure his running off to get killed smacked the sense back into her! *praise the heavens* So it's wonderful to see that with them; the bitterness gone. Back to the jokes. Perfect quote from Harry,
'Not as long as I draw breath.' tee hee.
Loved seeing Harry back on the Grid. Excellent line from NW and PF about the
'chair' and
Q branch' They are back on form. The team was good. I don't like Callum but we're not meant too. Also, if someone is going to play Harry's son does anyone else think Geoffery Strietfeild (sp?) aka Callum, would've made a better candidate? Spittin' I say. Of course maybe it would be too obvious to everyone. *shrugs* He could at least have been a younger Harry.
Erin's fine. I'm not going to judge till I've seen more from her. Though I must say I totally thought she would be some hard-nose, edgy type. We'll see. And is there something in the works with Dimitri and her?
Yay! we get to see Harry's house again! But I must also mention the absence of Scarlet.
At a neighbors? Let's hope.
I'd like to see more of his house...maybe even with Ruth in it.
Oh ,and I loved how nonchalant Harry was with Sacha when he was being held at gun point! He's soooo gooood!
And what about all the smiles from him? Plenty of frowns too but Dang! I don't think we've had that many smiles from the man throughout the last 9 series. It's lovely seeing that.
The gala~ I adored how Harry asked out Ruth.
'Not the perfect night out' So tender. And her little joke, '
We've had worse.' Have they talked about nights out? And what would constitute a
'perfect' one? I like to think they have.
I must say Harry looking mighty dashing in his tux!
Though I really wished Ruth wore a sleeveless dress. What's up with that? She's sexy enough to pull that off. Just look at the 'sexy poll' against Alex Kingston!
Stupid jacket. Pull up the hair, ditch the jacket. I feel like they wanted to make Elena prettier in comparison, which personally, I don't think they did. Why couldn't Ruth have a red dress? ( I know, I know she's suppose to blend in) But the one time they dress her up, she doesn't even looked dressed up! Regardless she's still gorgeous. Just me being picky.
Okay, I'm over it...well not entirely but on to other things.
I'm sure Harry was enamored when he picked her up.
I can just picture it, maybe him giving her some flowers....telling her how lovely she is.....*wanders off into ficland*
As much as I don't like Callum I loved his
'Mama Bear and Papa bear' quip. That was great.
So, Action Harry returns! I love Action Harry! One of my favorite of the Harry's. He did a spectacular job. Wonder if his elbow needs tending too. Ruth?
Last office scene~ (this is where I go all over the place with jumbles)
And the
'Un-pick'ing ~total double meaning there. I think more so for herself. She doesn't blame him for the affair. Thank heavens!! But she's also glimpsed at what it would be like without him. ie rooftop with Lucas. Of course we all know she used those words in 9.8 and that absolutely tells me that she wants to be with him. She wants to sort it out
'together' MAJOR development here.
I also think the writers are turning it around this series. Harry's not chasing Ruth, I think she's going to be chasing him a bit because of Elena.
I could feel the love between them (H/R) just from their little interactions.
The fact that she is referring to them as a unit
'we', 'together', 'us' says heaps.
Ruth has this confidence about her now and I think the shock of losing Harry propelled her into a transformation. Now they just have to get there. I think she is willing but this new obstacle (Elena) is in the way. I am a little worried about that one. I'm sure old feeling will come up between the two, a lot of guilt, the thought of what could have been. Though I'm confident that it won't come to fruition, I'm a bit annoyed that she's there at all.
What a wrench to throw into the mix.
Did anyone else notice NW in the last scene how quick she was to forgive Harry? When he said they were lovers, you could see her chest rise, her heart-rate speed at the news (NW is so brilliant) but she immediately wanted to help him. But her character is also brilliant
so hopefully they'll be able to work things out. And then the son comment, I think maybe she suspected but she didn't know.
I think Ruth wants so badly to be with him now. Her demons have gone! THANK THE HEAVENS!!!!
I'm also so glad that Harry is being honest with her. He could have dragged it out , not telling her, but he didn't and that will help their relationship. Hopefully he'll continue to do so. Definite progress.
I can definitely see where this story arc might be heading in relationship to H/R. I am as nervous as all get out. Over all an excellent episode. So excited for next week!
