Posted this in the wrong thread! SO sorry.
So thinking about the main Harry and Ruth scene. Harry comes back in and sees her and can barely look at her. Shutting her out at the mention of the meet with Elena (which NW gorgeously reacted to, you could see the insecurities from just her eyes!
'Does he still have feelings for Elena? Does he still have feelings for me?' Ugh! Shes so freakin brilliant!). At first I thought this was guilt over Elena but then I realised he just helped his son cover up a murder! I don't know about you but I don't think that's the time to get all
'Let's discuss my feelings right now because I just had my first bonding experience helping my son, who I've never truly known and who'll will never know who I am, get rid of a body. Forgive me if I don't feel like sitting around the campfire sharing my feelings.'I really feel he's coming towards a breaking point. A man who isn't 'emotionally forthright as he is, is doing the only thing he can try to do and that is compartmentalize pushing her away. Also because the more secrets she finds out about him the more likely he will lose her love. And no, they haven't discussed their feelings but they both know it's there.
However, from Ruth POV she totally nailed him and rightly so! He's being a jerk making her feel like she's his subordinate and not the woman he loves
andcommitted treason for. Such an emotional scene between the pair. They are just amazing. Oh, and even on the phone he was abrupt and boss like. No wonder she looked into his file. That must have been an inner conflict if ever there was one. I am excited for next week though just reading Ian blog
Ruth and Elena meeting up!
can't wait to see that!
Harry and Elena- so I think it's been mentioned before that Peter could have chemistry with a chair if need be. Well, I'm sorry to say but I saw the chemistry. Yes, Elena was doe eyed and reminiscent. Yes, they were sitting a little too close for my poor H/R shipping comfort. And yes, I had a brief feeling that she wanted to kiss him. (Ekkkk! Get away woman!) But I'm pretty sure Harry isn't in love with her. I agree with most comments about his feeling guilty. Unrequited love (and I'm not saying that theirs is cause that belongs to Harry and Ruth if ever there is unrequited love!) is always more romantisied.
I'm interested to find out what happened and why he burned her. They were suppose to defect/extract her, why didn't they? What would have happened? Would they have run off together assuming new identities? They wouldn't have been able to have a life together. Maybe that's why they decided against it? Also, Harry says 'a brief relationship', so by brief Harry means 5 years brief? I mean we see Sasha as a little boy, maybe 4 or 5 years? Even 3 would mean they would have been together a long time (suduction pregnancy, coming back after so long). And Harry's wife? I'm feeling more sorry for the faceless Jane character now. But still that sucks for her.
Despite all of Harry's flaws I still love him. He's Harry Pearce, how can you not? And I'm sure Ruth will still too despite what she finds in his file.
I don't really care for Erin. And I don't think she's a mole. She's a mum. She wouldn't risk her daughters life for $$ or revenge or what ever the heck the story line is. It just wouldn't happen. I actually prefer Callum more. And btw I can't get over how much he looks like Harry! It's mind boggling to me that he wasn't cast as the young Harry or the one playing his son (though that might give up the paternity a bit too easily). But still, dang! Does anyone else see it or am I going bonkers?
I love Sasha! Great acting, handsome guy, Harry's son, tortured by mother's betrayal. Wonderful character developing qualities. I hope he lives. I don't think he will for some reason but I hope he does.
And poor Tariq. As soon as I heard the music I started biting my nails mumbling, 'No No No!'
So sad.
And I did try to cry but the tears wouldn't come. :/ I was somewhat expecting it. He will be missed.
Can't think of anything more at the moment except I too wondered why the Russians were speaking in English.
