So I'm watching episode 5 right now and the line that Harry says after Ruth comments on how Danny and Zoe working together is not a good idea. Harry" A bit of tension should keep the nerves going" Then there is this look exchanged between Harry and Ruth. Ruth having a 'what the hell' kinda of look going on.
Then again this whole series there are a lot of looks popping up either at just the mention of Harry's name by Adam and Ruth blushes or smiles a bit more. Or the looks exchanged between Harry and Ruth.
This is also the Ruth has a "date" ep. as well.
Hmm....
more to come on this I think and other threads about this should follow. More thoughts cause I know I'm missing stuff.

Oh, found out that it is her husband that plays the character she has been stalking/goes on the date with. Wonder if they were married before they filmed this ep. or after?

sidenote: but the Ruth on a date episode, is one of my favorite Malcolm ones. Couldn't ask for a better friend.

I watched The Red Shoes to see why this would be one of Ruth's favorite films. What a depressing film at the end!! I see how it can relate though to Ruth's situation. Loves her job yet loves a man and how the two conflict at times. Hmmm.... interesting film choice.

Ooh yeah I rewatched this one last week. I love it! Even though it's mainly a Zoe and Danny centric ep, there's a nice subplot for Ruth and Malcolm. I love how nervous and vulnerable Ruth is, and you definitely couldn't ask for a better friend than Malcolm in times like these. He's just too sweet for words!
What I love about these earlier series eps is that there's much more room for character development, yet it never seems to get the upper hand. The weekly plot is most important, as it should be. But I love how we get to see glimpses of the characters' personal lives. How Malcolm just casually wanders into Ruth's house to drop off some files, and she hardly looks up because she's watching 'The Red Shoes'. And that later when Malcolm comes to pick her up, Sam is there as well.
In later series (especially 7 and 8) we hardly get to see the Spooks' houses anymore, as if everyone's just living on the Grid.
Oh and I read on the Spooks forum that NW and Barnaby Kay were already together when this ep was filmed.
I did wonder why the man (John?) never asked Ruth out properly. They seemed to like each other, so why not? Not that I'm complaining or anything, but it would've been nice to see Harry trying to suppress his jealousy ;D

DITTO Philippa!!! Watching this ep and I have to say they really make Ruth look really pretty with her outfits. Why couldn't they do that for her in the other series with such a great wardrobe? Nicola does a great job with flirting because to me she is really using real life as it is her husband. Awwww!!! I wish Harry could have seen Ruth in her dress for the 'date' I'm sure he would just fall head over heals for her even more. Awwww!!!

I really adore that dress she wears on her 'date'. It's probably still my favourite Ruth outfit thusfar.
