I havn't seen a thread for this mods so I hope it is ok for me to make one.
My opinions on why NW is awesome:
- I love actors that are a little bit eccentric. My favourite actress of all time is the Queen of Weird Helena Bonham Carter. I'm eccentric myself so I like it when others are too. I love that the label 'bonkers but brilliant' could kind of fit NW too eg naming her son Harry after Harry Pierce... that's a little odd but also very cool (in my book).
- I also like actors who arn't afraid of embarassing themselves on tv eg Julie Walters and her Wah Wah strip tease, Bill Nighy singing about feeling it in his fingers and toes, John Simm dancing around zanily to I can't Decide etc I'm pretty sure that NW in Four Weddings and a Funeral constitutes epicly embarassing. Respect!
- Please don't hate me for this opinion but I think that NW is actually a rather plain person but this just makes me love her more. She can't rely on looks to get away with things, she has to act... and act she does!!!
- She is one of those quietly compelling actresses who is very subtle eg with Spooks I liked Ruth in series two but it wasn't till series three that I was like 'wow this actress is amazing' and then on rewatches I realised how cleverly subtle all of her scenes were.
- I don't think that there's any genre or medium that she can't do well... voices, radio plays, drama's, comedies, plays... (so excited to see NW in a play this year. Can't believe how lucky I am with dates. I fly back to Oz on the 20th Dec. and I'm seeing Season's Greetings on the 18th!)
Anyway that's me for now.
So why do you guys love Nicola?

I do respect Nicola as an actress. So far throughout her career she has made some great choices that have stretched her in both comedy and drama. What I like is that she is able to really bring out several emotions in facial expressions (interpersonal communication) within a matter of minutes in a scene. She is down to earth so nice.

Hmm I need to add to my list.
I love that Nicola is so realistic when she acts. I've never seen anyone pull off something quite like it before. Not even Miranda Richardson playing three parts in Spider.
Nicola obviously has a great deal of respect for her fans and I love that. She seems to be a very genuine, kind person. Even if she wasn't "famous" and an actress, I think she's the type of person who everyone would want to be friends with. And that's pretty much the highest praise I can give to someone.

She appears to be quite bonkers! She seems to talk a million miles a minute...when I met her recently after Season's Greetings, she made me forget I was nervous and talked non stop.
She's very subtle in her work, undoubtedly funny without seeming to try

I definitely got this impression too The only 'celeb' I can think of who is more bonkers than Nicola is Helena Bonham Carter I love bonkers though. Bonkers is cool (because I am bonkers myself lol)

I get really nervous about meeting people and she made me relax within a second of meeting her. I've never met anyone that have been able to do that before. Totally adore her.
