I'm so mean, I'm so glad whatshisface has finally cleared off. There were enough grumpy people on the grid without him getting started too Ahhhhhh POOR RUTH. Someone take her out and give her a good time, please! I think Lucas gave her some Very Sound Advice, don't you!?

OK time to talk out this last ep.
Beginning I thought was a bit weird with the Harry montage looking through Lucas flat and what not. That is just me personally.
I really liked how Lucas/John/whatever flat out told Ruth that Love is something she shouldn't give up on. Though his character was a baddie in the end that was one thing that I think could pull him to some sort of normal. It is the only thing that kept him from going completely over the edge. (tee hee no pun intended) I did like the scenes between Ruth and Lucas/John/whatever a lot of depth from Nicola.
I liked how Harry just didn't give a d@mn anymore all he could see was saving Ruth. Then she turns around and spats it back at him. GRRRR I just want to slap her and send her of to therapy! Harry's eyes got really dark when he was on the bridge talking opposite of Lucas. You could just feel the tension between the two to save the women they love. I have to admit I almost cried over Harry calling Catherine in the car to leave her a message. My heart was breaking. What is up with Harry driving all of a sudden did MI5 have to make cut backs on drivers LOL!!! Peter Firth was top brilliant.
Ruth ok continuity errors with marking around her neck. How the heck would she have woken up that fast seriously I'd still be sleeping. Loved how she really took out everything she knew when it came to dealing with Lucas to try to stall him and find the humanity in him. In those moments she had a death wish just like Adam & Tom. Ruth when she cries at the end yes that is like 2.10 for Harry and Tom. This time I think it is for Harry, Lucas and herself. Ruth needs to get over what is holding her back and just fully love Harry. Ruth is depressed for sure I'm hoping that at the end when she cried it was the release she needed to get out of the slump. *cross fingers here's hoping* Good night if Nicola doesn't get a BAFTA then there is something wrong!!!!
So many more thoughts my brain is just on overload right now. Will get ep5 and ep7&8 screen caps up sorry I've been slacking on that.
EDIT TO ADD: I think ending on the Rooftop was a moment of coming full circle for the series. I do wish Ruth would have walked out there to say something.

If Nicola does not get a BAFTA for series nine of Spooks the world has a bad case of the stupids.
Still a bit sad over Lucas' story but I'll get over it.
I don't know why, but the scene where Lucas injects Ruth is one of the best scenes I've seen on Spooks in ages.

I have a feeling the scene on the roof was filmed at the same time as ep 1 as Harry didn't have a cut over his eye, then the scene on the roof with Lucas the cut kept disappearing, bad continuity errors but a great episode, I am glad Lucas has gone sorry Lucas fans

That cut did have a hard time staying where it was supposed to be, didn't it? ;D
OK, so I confess, I just re-watched the episode (and I know I'm not alone in this!). Over on the SCF I've noticed quite a few people being very upset with Ruth and her reaction to Harry saving her life. Personally, I see it. I think she has ever right to be upset with him when she thinks that he's given a genetic warfare device away. He never gets the chance to explain its just his career he's tanked . . .
When she says "It was my turn" and "you were wrong to love me then" (sigh!) she digs at him quite hard (Poor Harry, he's just trying to help a girl out . . .). The first time I watched the scene directly following, it seemed that Ruth was angry with him - more than willing to let him go to his death - but then in the re-watch: Harry decides he has to go, Beth and Dimitri try to talk him out of it, then Ruth says, "Harry -" and take a good look at her expression - she's about to say don't go, try to talk him out of it. And then he says "It's my turn." Returning Ruth's words directly at her. How is she supposed to argue with that? So, she throws herself back into her principals . . .
Great, great scenes between Ruth and Lucas. I love the conversation between them about Harry's proposal. I hope Ruth will take his advice - BE BRAVE!
BAFTA! BAFTA! BAFTA! *Chants over and over again*
I will miss S7 Lucas, but he's been gone for a while - had S9 followed directly on S7 I would have been saying - what are they doing to that character?!?!? But after 8, I'm fine with what they've done.

I am now of the opinion that both RA and NW deserve a BAFTA each entirely off the needle injection scene alone. I have watched it a gazillion times on iplayer and I am almost convinced that it may just be the best scene I have seen on Spooks ever.

I don't know why, but the scene where Lucas injects Ruth is one of the best scenes I've seen on Spooks in ages. I'm perfectly with everyone on the Bafta front! And yes, i think that scene is amazing. (I also thought that the Lucas screaming in the car with the flashbacks was one of the best pieces of film-making i've seen in a long time!) I have a feeling the scene on the roof was filmed at the same time as ep 1 as Harry didn't have a cut over his eye, then the scene on the roof with Lucas the cut kept disappearing, bad continuity errors but a great episode, I am glad Lucas has gone sorry Lucas fans I'm glad Lucas has gone too. I was never his biggest fan. The scene at the end is (to my belief and agreed belief of quite a few on SF) re-used footage from episode 1. That's partly why we all want to see ruth walk out as in the original use of it she does! Not that if it wasn't a completely new scen i wouldn't want Ruth in it. Of course i would.

Just something that has been running through my brain not 100% sure I believe what I'm thinking. To me I have to question who was acting more like Section Chief was it Lucas or Ruth?? I think this one can be weighed in on. There were times were Lucas was being a bit more so then Ruth. Then again there were more times when Ruth was due to the fact that Lucas was too busy running around with his personal issues.
Anyone else have thoughts about this?

Ruth is Queen of the Grid, and that's a fact. She's learned how to delegate pretty well, so I'd say that in series 9 she was more of a Section Chief at times than Lucas was.

I can't for the life of me understand those people who think that there is no way EVER that Ruth could be section chief. The seeds of her becoming something more than analyst are definitely there I think

OMG How could I forget to mention this to everyone!! OK I went straight to the source for an answer on this question of "Who was more of the section chief in s9 Lucas or Ruth"? AHA Nicola herself with a big smile said: Ruth of course!!!
I told her that Ruth is Queen of the Grid then asked the question about the Section Chief. YAY for a nice direct answer from Nicola ;D

So awesome to hear that from her! I love that she's as big of a fan of Ruth as we all are.
